Volkswagen is revising its luxury 4x4 Touareg range to simplify choice for customers and offer better value for money. The entry price for the Touareg is now £28,600 on the road – £1,730 less than before – while the mid-range V6 SE gains almost £3,000 worth of extra equipment and yet is also reduced in price. At the top of the line-up,
the special edition Altitude becomes a permanent addition to the range.
In all trim levels, the Touareg is luxuriously appointed, and an accomplished on-road, as well as, off-road vehicle. This is thanks to a host of all-terrain features: short front and rear overhangs; hill hold function; traction control linked to an auto-locking centre differential; full-time 4XMOTION four-wheel drive; hill descent assist; and simple high and low ratio gear selection to help find the right gear for the right terrain.
Now costing from £28,600, the entry-level Touareg has a wealth of features as standard, including: six airbags; air conditioning; ten speaker stereo with CD player; and 17” alloy wheels. The entry level Touareg is available with 2.5-litre TDI and 3.0-litre V6 TDI engines.
Moving up the range, the revised Touareg SE features an enhanced specification, with Cricket leather upholstery with heated front seats; DVD satellite navigation with
six inch LCD screen; and six CD autochanger now standard on all models. As factory-fit options, these items would previously have cost £3,070; yet the Touareg SE V6 TDI actually costs £865 less than the model it replaces. In addition, the 3.0-litre V6 TDI benefits from: wood trim; 2Zone climate control; 18” alloy wheels; chrome trimmed radiator grille and window surrounds; and front fog lights. This represents £3,935 of additional value.
The SE specification is available with a full range of engines including the powerful new 3.6-litre V6 FSI petrol with 280 PS and 5.0-litre V10 TDI. Due to the success of the 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine, the 4.2-litre V8 engine is discontinued.
The Altitude model was initially introduced to commemorate the World Record set by a Touareg in Chile, climbing to the highest point on Earth that a vehicle can reach – 6,080 metres. This special model will now become a permanent addition to the range offering striking looks with its Volkswagen Individual body-styling pack; ‘privacy’ tinted rear windows and imposing 19” Siena alloy wheels. The Altitude model is available with all of the Touareg engines, starting at £34,630 for the 2.5-litre TDI.
The revised Touareg range is available to order now. Volkswagen Retailers can provide a service to customers interested in purchasing with finance through the financial services arm of the Volkswagen Group, Volkswagen Finance*. Around 80 per cent of new cars are now bought with some form of finance or borrowing. Volkswagen Finance supports the Retailer network with a range of finance and insurance products including its flexible personal contract plan, Solutions. Such plans could ensure that a customer gets more Volkswagen for their motoring budget.
