mk1 gti cabrio apparant misfire??

:confused: ive just purchased an f regd car which has been unrun and garaged for a year. the car has an intermittent fault which happens when you apply the throttle quickly, and quite often tickover is lumpy too! performance wise after a brief splutter it flies so no problems there. ive tried injector cleaner but have been informed to either replace them or get them cleaned, on the other hand ive been told it could be the ignition module!!!!:aargh4:
has anyone who has or has owned these car experienced similar and can shed some light on the problem, i dont want it to turn into a money pit otherwise.
