snow tyres and wheels

Hi guys,
I'm think of getting an old set of wheels with snow tyres on just in case. I have a 2005 2.0TFSi quattro and am not sure what size tyre and wheel combination to get, I'm currently running 225/40/18.

Any suggestions?

it may be of interest to you, audi are doing a winter tyre set. Includes winter tyres and alloy wheels. Not sure if they store them over the summer though and vice-versa with your current set of wheels. Might be worth looking at.

we do the same 'tyre hotel'. I have fitted 16" steel wheels on my A3 just because I had some and the tyres are a lot cheaper, looks a bit naff but better than getting stuck or worse still crashing.

Remember to inform your insurance company. If you change to a different diameter wheel than standard it is regarded by many insurance companies as a 'modification' and you may find yourself uninsured.
