Not starting

I have a 2007 3.0 tdi cab with a manual gearbox. I am not using it that much at the moment, last used it 10 days ago for 200 mile trip.
Got in it this afternoon turned the key to first position, lights on dash ok, wait 10 seconds for glow plug light to go out, turn the key and nothing at all happened! Tried again, nothing! Third time started fine, battery not sluggish at all. Drove it 5 miles stopped for 10 minutes got back in, same thing, started second attempt.

Any ideas?

I would check all leads at battery and at starter are clean and tight. Ignition switch fault is also a possibility.

Concur with Alan02, but also suspect starter motor solenoid or starter motor itself.
