Got an exhaust warning come up on the car, took it in to the local garage and they tell me that I need a new inlet manifold and that it's a common fault on V6's. Any one else had the problem ??

Thanks

This problem is due to the flaps in the manifold getting slightly stiff and when the motor adjusts them it realises this and logs a fault. I've never tried it myself but if it were my car I'd just lubricate and work the flaps by hand to loosen them up a bit, get basic settings done on the motor again and see how it goes.

It is a common fault on the V6s and they have modified the manifold. The manifold comes with a new control motor which is probably why they are so expensive.

Thanks, make you wonder if its common (which i believe it is) why isn't it a factory recall ?

I'm not sure how they pick what to recall. Safety related problems of course and probably problems that affect lots of cars.

There are plenty of common faults that aren't recalled, in fact most faults are common faults.
