Cruise control failed

The cruise control on my B7 Avant with 90k miles has failed completely - no functions work - can anyone shed light pse?:1zhelp:

clutch switch showing on setting so ecu will not allow cruise to activate
check mvb 5 or 6 in address 01 for operation status of the switch
1 means on 0 means off, so press the clutch and observe the reading then release the clutch
switch costs £10 + vat
