where do I go from here?

Well i'm just back from audi with my lack of power problem, they could only find one fault- the diesel pump timing which they have set, but the problem persists:confused:
They say its unlikely to be the airflow meter as its not known for going on <97 cars being mechanical, but cant give me any other ideas.
Can anyone here do better?

Its a <97 a6 avant, 2.5tdi. AATengine with 185000 on the clock.
