my sons a6 c4 has just developed a fault wth the rear n/s window.

He went to the car and the window had wound down and flattened the battery, I disconnected the motor and applied 12v to the motor and wound it back up, but when the motor is reconnected it goes down again.

I disconnected all the switches ( the one on the door and the master switch on drivers door) still does the same, can anyone tell me where the control module is for the power windows, are there any components in the motor assembly that can cause this?

I think the control unit is part of the motor assembly.

Dont have drawings for a A6 1994-1997 but for a 2001 A6 2.5tdi engine code AFB, it is control unit J298.

As far as I am aware these units have a safety feature that activates if it meets resistance, (current overload most likely). If this is faulty it could be causing this issue.

See attached drawing.
