my a4 was suffering from rough idleing last week wasnt to bad went to star it yesterday morning like every morning a bit rough but it normaly sorted its self out after a few mins now it just totaly cuts out the revs drop to about 400/500 and stalls starts back up fine but when i come to junctions it stalls and i have to start the engine agen

i have took off the pipe to the throttlebody and sprayed it with wd40 engine running a lot smoother but it still sems to cut out how much is recomended to spray in im clueless and also how long does it take for it to take effect

thanks in advance

hi mate what engine is it petrol or diesel . i had this same problem on a 1.8 a4 and it was the maf sensor try unplugging it and take it on a short test drive . if you are not aware where it is its in the thick black rubber pipe that comes from the air box

ok mate that engine if i am not mistaken as the maf/airflow sensor bolted directly onto the air box try removing the plug from the sensor and take it for a short test drive if the symptoms have gone then your problem is a faulty maf/airflow sensor

Ckeck for unmetered air the breather hose to the rear of the engine would be the first port of call

hi mate i dont know why you are spraying wd 40 in the throttle body its a lubricant and a very inflamable one at that i would be very carefull . what you need is carb cleaner

Ya totally agree here. If anything WD40 will make the problem worse...
You need to get it cleaned, not lubricated..
