Passat Gear Lever Rattle

I have just purchased 130 TDi Highline Estate, and have a rather annoying rattle coming from the gear lever under acceleration.

Just wondering whether anyone has had or heard of how to cure the problem?

I haven’t had this problem but one thing I would check is the metal clip that holds the gear lever on. Remove the gaiter, the back comes out first, list the gaiter up as high as it will go and you will see a metal clip. Use a pair of pliers to make sure that this is tight. This might clear the problem.

Did you manage to cure this fault? I have the same problem with my 2002 passat estate.

Hi have cured this problem with a new gear lever, only trouble is it isn't cheap... Knob vibrates under acceleration and is very irritating...
Only other thing I could suggest is lift up gear lever gaitor & replace clip if you can get one??
