On Sunday I spent from 11am till 5pm cleaning the Octavia vRS.

First I rinsed it down, with a hose.
Then I washed with Autoglym Bodywork conditioner (2 bucket method of course).
Rinsed off with a hose again.
Chamois the car dry.
Polish using AG Super Resin Polish.
Seal using AG Extra Gloss Protection.
Clean alloys with AG Clean Wheels.
Seal wheels using AG alloy wheel Seal.
Dress tyres with AG Instant Tyre Dressing.
Polish windows with AG glass polish.
Polish tailpipes using Autosol.
Waxed with Collinite 476S with 3 wax applicator pads.
Loads of microfibre cloths.

Unfortunately the dew started to sit on the roof and bonnet, so looks like it's not clean (but it is, trust me!)

This was followed by a well deserved lie down.
And back ache for the next two days! :aargh4:

Very good job. Next time you come to wash it, it'll take you half the time. Muck really does just fall off the car once it's been properly waxed.

Shiniest car in the street? Probably!
Well done. :beerchug:

Wow, that is one shinnnnyyyyy Octavia.....nice one:approve:
Chris is right, the colour looks great on the VRS.......obviously a few hours were spent, which I can appreciate as I myself do the same.

I hope you don't mind but I was checking your products and wash technique etc whcich look excellent, but I notice you're still using a chamois leather? Do yourself a favour and ditch that.......microfibres to dry the car = less scratches / swirls:beerchug:
Thought you might of posted a few more pics to really show her off;)
Thanks for sharing

Thanks for your comments everyone.
My understanding is, the more often you wax a car, the less you have to wash a car?

It was certainly the shiniest car in the street Paul, and possibly the shiniest car all the way on the m25 later that night! Still not got a spec of dirt on it, nor brake dust and the rain water is just rolling off the sides and beading on the bonnet/roof.

Jim, I will certainly use a microfibre cloth to dry next time. Stupidly, those were the only pics I took of it too, as we had to get ready to go out in it, so was in a rush to get the snaps!

I was originally on the hunt for a red vRS, as I do have a thing for red cars. But saw this one and loved it. And ironically, I have seen 4 or 5 red ones since buying this one last month, but only one blue one. :biglaugh:

Next time I will do all the interior too and get some shots of that too.

Put a Raceglaze waffle weave drying towel (~£7) and a Bilt Hamber clay bar (£10-£15) on your list for next time, you've definitely got the lot then. :D

Any work colleagues/friends/family complimented you on your fine efforts? ;)

I will add those to my shopping list (much to swmbo's disgust!)

My workmates still take the p**s that I own a Skoda at 24yrs old haha, but I know secretly that they are jealous, as if I'm on my own with them, then they talk seriously to me about it.

My friends like it, although, one of them, who I happened to be following earlier - until I overtook him on the dual carriageway :p said, "I saw that horrendous blue thing of yours go past me!" Jealous I think too. So he should be driving a Focus! :D

My mum thinks it's beautiful.
My dad said that when he comes to change car, he will seriously consider an Octavia. Although, performance does not interest him in the slightest. His car does over 70mpg, so can't get his head round 35mpg haha. But is very impressed by the quality and bang for your buck.

My g/f's dad is absolutely smitten with it.
Coming out of Eastbourne is a 16% incline which goes on for about 1 mile in a straight line. Coming out of the 30mph limit into the national limit (with 3 people in the car - two 6ft 2" males and my g/f) I put my foot down and hit triple figures without even realising! kph of course! :o He was gobsmacked. I quickly eased off lets say!

Going to give it a bit of a wash this weekend, as I think there was salt put down on sunday morning, so want to get that off asap.

But in answer to your question, yes, I have received many positive comments. Even when I had done 90% of the waxing a man walking a dog walked past, stopped an looked and said what a cracking job I had done. :biglaugh:

I think I may deflate my enormous ego now.

very nice mate but as one of the lads said, a big no no on the chamois front as this will inflict defects into the paint.

this is how mine are washed.

1. rinse first
2. pressure washed to remove loose dirt
3. Snow foamed and left for 5 mins to loosen dirt
4. pressure washed to remove snow foam and dirt that has been loosend
5. Snow foamed again to aide in the lubrication of the wash process with 30 litre buckets(bigger the better) and with the 2 Euro wash mitts one for the upper panels and one for the lower.

car is then clayed and then re washed the same way via snow foam to remove marks made form clay and then dried using large MF towels and car dryer.

Too much time on your hands matey ! LOL

I've not really read anything on snowfoaming.

What companies would be recommended?

IMO snowfoam is a bit of a gimmick in that it doesn't make your car any cleaner than it would be giving it a good wash with a good shampoo (AG Bodywork Conditioner or Megs Gold Class) and a microfibre or lambswool wash mitt.

Instead, the snowfoam brings 90% of the dirt off the car without the need for "washing" the car with the wash mitt and a bit of elbow grease. So using snowfoam helps to minimise the risk getting swirls through improper washing (such as use of a sponge, or circular motion when washing the paintwork).

Snowfoam does work, very well in fact, but if you're expecting extra shine simply by snow foaming it rather than washing it, I think you'd be disappointed.

If there was a best brand of snowfoam to use, I think it would have to be Valet Pro, who make a very good PH neutral snow foam.

That geezer with the Focus is definitely jealous...

They are so well built Skodas these days, the Mk1 Octy I used to have was built well but these Mk2s are just on a completely different level.

If I had the money I bought the A6 with again today, I'd buy one of these.

valet pro snow foam or chemical guys maxi suds. you will need a snow foam lance for it to work though as it works under extreme pressure to get the foaming action.

foam lance (£50)

For the future, I would buy Dodo Juice Born to be Mild shampoo - a little goes a long way.

Buy some Autosmart Tardis to get rid of the tar on the bottom half of the car and then get hold of some Wekstatt Acrylic spray sealant. On race blue there is no better last stage product in my opinion.

I have a Sprint yellow vrs and your's looks superb.

Thanks guys.
I have noticed the tar splats are quite noticeable on this car, so will investigate this tar remover.

Was going to clean it today whilst the weather was nice, but the missus took it to work! How rude!

Get up a pic of your yellow vRS! Not seen one in the flesh yet!

That was from the day that I bought it privately up in Cheshire. The car has much better bodywork since then to be fair.

Very nice! Quite cool too!
Would like to think that is quite exclusive too. Surprisingly I still don't see many vRS', even after taking more notice in them since buying ours. I see mostly black or red ones, a few blue ones, but never seen a yellow one!

How does the yellow come up when you give it a good buff?

With the right products it comes up very well.

It's all in the prep to be honest.
