I have a 2001 1.8T A4. The problem i have is this. The engine doesn't get up to working temperature unless I am stuck in a traffic jam for 30 mins. I have changed the engine temperature sensor and it is still the same. The cooling fan is on at all times the engine is running. All levels are ok and the top hose geets warm and bottom hose is cool.
Could someone give me a clue what to do next?

Thanks for looking
Matt

Thanks for the response.
Why would that put the electric cooling fan on all the time? Is it a difficult job to change?

Did you change the temp sensor for the fan?

Make sure your water pump is working by removing the expansion bottle tank lid, revving up the engine to 3000 rpm and checking the water at the top hose is flowing back into the tank.

Where is the fan sensor? I have checked the water pump and water is coming back in to the tank.
