Loving my 2.0T- on 85k now, had to replace turbo under warranty but otherwise a spot on motor and a much more pleasure to drive than my 1.9tdi. Just don't expect the same economy as the diesel.

Oh make sure the cambelt has been changed on the car you are looking at too.

Im not really bothered with economy. Its for more of a second car. I would probably do a belt myself either way. I dont like to take peoples word or other mechanics workmanship lol. This yoke is a four wheel drive. It sounds lovely but just with such a high milage on the petrol engine makes me a little unsure. As far as bad points, what gives bother ? Are they a 20 valve fsi engine with a turbo ?

Yes the 2.0TFSI engine used is based on the normally aspirated engine.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Volkswagen_Group_petrol_engines#2.0_R4_16v _TFSI_125-210kW

Apart from my turbo going, other known problems on the forum include coil packs (which haven't gone for me). Unsure what mileage other 2.0T owners are on at the moment on here though.

I would check the service documents of the car to see if any items have failed and been repaired/replaced.

its like all cars you get the good and the bad
iv had 20T at 160 k not a problem
then iv had 1 with 63k and nothing but problems
the 1 i have now 109k is haveing rebuild for a snapped cam
but check all history etc

My 1.8t had 130,000 miles on it and no problems still purred like a cat.

Mine has 98500 on it bought it at 96K a couple of months ago. FASH had the coil pack issue 29 quid each + vat from Audi each and some NGK platinum plugs and she is purring happily, the plug gap was probably four times greater than it should be on the old ones no wonder the coil packs give out!!!! they are working four times harder.

Just put Forte petrol treatment in the tank a couple of weeks ago and it pulls much better now it's clean. Flushed the engine with Forte flush and refilled with Fuch GT1 synth from Oilman (Opie oils) new filter and will now be done every 5K, instead of Audi's stupid 18K service interval.....

Just got the gearbox, transfer box and diff to do now then off we go. Paid 8K for the car, S-Line SE quattro 220hp, loving it!!!!

I would say do it! you won't regret it.

Tim

P.S. might be going for a remap to 260hp as well...... :approve::D:Blush:

Ok, I went for her and love it ! She is the 200 bhp bwe engine. Must admit though, no major turbo kick comes in that throws you back ? More of a nice smooth power from the turbo, is that right ?

Don't seem to get the 'kick' on the 220 model either just a progressive increase in forward motion :D 60 in 2nd is not an issue.........

The 4wd does drag a fair bit out of the performance but heh, sitting in quite comfort for 8K makes me happy. I'm hoping for a long and loving relationship with my A4!!!:approve:

Yup, the map on the 2.0T has been designed to be as flat a torque curve as possible to make it feel more like a quick NA engine. Mines at 30K miles on a 56 plate. Brill car and wouldn't have anything else at the mo.

I agree about the turbo coming in. I went from a 2.0tdci Mondeo and the turbo came in with a kick but ran out of puff at 4000rpm but now it smooth right up to 7000rpm. I find it deceptively quick. Much more refined!!
