Hi,
I now have an A4 2.0 tdi 170 2007 having retired my trusty 16 year old golf.
I want to inspect / replace the air filter but not exactly sure where it is - there is a black plastic box on the left side ( standing at the front of the car ) near the windscreen, but the screws look a bit awkward to get at - is this where the air filter is on this model ?

Many thanks

Mark

Mark, welcome to the world of the 170TDi....
The box you describe sounds like the ECU so don't go there!:yikes:
The air filter is a big black box on the same side behind the headlight. It's easy to get off. You may be better removing the air inlet duct first which you will see running forwards to the top of the front grille (two philips screws.) Then there is a connector to remove (MAF) and the main hose to the turbo. The whole box then pulls out with a good yank - its held in by plastic pegs in rubber bungs.

Cheers
Patrick
