hi, I own a 1995 Audi A6 2.0, engine type is ABK.
I took the car to a local garage, who plugged it in.
fault listed was engine speed sensor, (or crankshaft sensor depending on where you look for a part listing).
Can anyone tell me where this is located as myself, the mechanic and someone at Audi couldn't find it.

thanks

How did you drive there With the Hall Effect sensor faulty in the distributor G40 the engine would not run.
What is your fualt. There is a speed sensor associates to the ABS brakes.

hi peter, the engine had a flat spot, revs over 2000-2400 the car has kangaroo petrol, so i had a local garage plug it in, it found only one fault, engine speed sensor.
on contacting local parts depots, i found the part listed in some as an ERA Engine Speed Sensor, and in others, a Crankshaft Position Sensor.
I bought one of each and they are the same product.

the problem is I cant find where is goes. We have looked all around the bellhousing and nothing there.

ABS, from memory was an option on this model, so you may not have it. Measure the resistance of the plug caps. The value is marked on them and they should all be the same.
