Key Fob Frequency/part Number

HELLO TO ALL, A QUICK QUESTION. IM LOOKING FOR A SPARE KEY/FOB FOR MY 2001 A6 AND AM LOOKING ON EBAY, WHAT I NEED TO KNOW IS HOW TO IDENTIFY MY FREQUENCY(which i assume is the same as my present fob). IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE BUYING ONE.
ALL HELP/ADVICE IS APPRECIATED.

Thanks for the link. But if I choose to go down the ebay route do I have to contact an Audi dealer to find out my frequency or does anyone know of a way of finding this out?

Split the key in half to see the part number you need.

Please dont pay somebody on ebay Info that free on the web!!
