Hi folks

Just about to take delivery of a Passat CC 2.0TD GT 140, and I want to fit a towbar to pull a car trailer.

My preference is the detachable type as it will only be used once a month max so don't want it visible the rest of the time.

VW have quoted £1100 for a dealer fit option, which seems crazy.

Ebay have Bosal ones for approx £250 ish - they state that the bumper doesn't need cutting but a part of the bumper undertray needs replacing and replaced with a 'spoiler' available from VW.

Has anyone any experience of fitting a towbar to a Passat CC - if so what make did you use and what is the best way of wiring the electrics up? I only need a single 7pin socket for lights only so should be pretty easy or do I need a 7pin bypass relay?

Any experiences or advice welcome!

Thanks in advance, Paul :beerchug:

You have to use either a dedicated wiring kit (expensive) or a bypass relay (Cheap). The dedicated wiring is best because then the car can have abs, esp coded to account for trailer when towing. Bypass relay means no coding and no esp help. Try Westfalia. They do a complete kit with wiring for the passat so probably do one for CC.

good news, managed to source a local fitter who will fit a Westfalia detachable towbar at my place of work or at home for £260 all in (inc VAT and a bypass relay)

Seems a bargain, so going to opt for that route instead!

I am having a company CC shortly, who fitted yours as I work in West Midlands and this sounds very reasonable
