3.0 quattro not charging

hi there i have a 3.0 quattro cab battery light came on the dis nxt thing all electrics died changed the alternator still the same pls help:aargh4:

Where did the alternator come from? I had two genuine VAG alternators that were faulty in a row for the same car.

i had it re conned two weeks ago lasted bout a week so i got it dun of another company im stuck now wiv no car

Have you put a voltmeter across the alternator terminals to check the output voltage when the engine is running?? How old is your battery?? It could be that it aint holding charge any longer ie it is kaput.

I suggest you get a proper exchange unit, preferably genuine as these carry a two year labour inclusive warranty even if you fit it.

i have tested across battery terminals once jump started it starts bout 15 volts and just goes down and down til 9 then the car dies may have to go wiv the genuine 1 at this rate just worried if that does not cure it:aargh4:

I might be wrong but I am not convinced that testing across the battery terminals when the engine is running gives you the true output voltage of the alternator. This is why I suggested you put the voltmeter across the alternator ouput terminals.

Have you got a spare battery you can try??
