Hey all!

Just been on youtube to get an idea of how to retrofit an ipod adaptor into the A4. Looks pretty simple! Can you recommend a good retrofit kit for a 2006 A4 quattro s line special edition? I've got the stereo with a built in tape player / slot loading cd player.

Not sure how much they are from audi dealers, if they do them. Seen a few on ebay, but range hugely in price!

Many thanks in advance!

There are a few different models and it depends what you want.
It sounds like you have a Symphony stereo. No problem with that but you need to make sure you get the correct kit so the correct cabling is supplied.

The best best kit in my opinion is the Dension 300. It will show the track titles on the dash display as long as you have a CAM display (if you have a computer and can switch between the screens then you definitely have a CAM) and if you dont then you can retrofit this anyway.
The gateway 300 has inputs for ipod, USB and stereo headphone input. The gateway 100 is the same but without the USB option. I originally bought the 100 but has a problem with it not working with the latest ipods (faulty) and dension gave me a free upgrade to the 300.
The Dension can be switching to GW mode where you control playlists etc.. from the radio controls ur UI mode where you can control it from the ipod direct which is usefull if the passenger wants to select the music. Only GW mode shows the titles in the CAM display however.

There are other cheaper units which for example dont support the CAM display right down to very basic ones which just take the analogue audio straight out of the ipod connector. The Gateway 300/100 take the digital data straight from the ipod and send it digitally to the stereo.

Cheers mate for the advice! The cam display... Is that the screens where you can cycle through mpg inst, miles to empty, etc? If so I have that.

I'll have a look to see where I can get the dension 300 from. Probably eBay would be as good a place as any I suppose.

I use a monster fm transmitter at the mo, which is ok but I can't charge at the same time.

Yes thats it. Without CAM I think it only displays the remaining milage.

This is where I bought mine from http://www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk/iPod_Car_Kit/For_Factory_Fitted_Radios/Audi_iPod_Car_Kit/Dension_Audi_Gateway_100_Car_Kit/Audi_ice%3ELink_Gateway_100

They also do a cheaper unit without CAM support.

This is an alternate make which is a fair bit cheaper but doesnt have the CAM display support.
