HI all,

I've got a great lease deal through gateway to lease on a cancelled vehicle they had in stock. I ordered the vehicle on the 31/8/10 and they said the anticipated delivery was around mid october.

Since signing on the dotted line, they havent given me any specific info and have just said the build week hasnt been confirmed yet. I'm in two minds whether to have words with them as i dont know if i'm being led on or whether they are telling the truth. I'm worried that if its not built until mid October when am I going to see the vehicle. I'm desperate to sell my current car and drive my new cc.

On average fronm a build week how long will the car take to be delivered from Germany to the UK dealer and then to me?

would really appreciate any input.

Jon

Ordered mine on the 10th July, was given a build week about five weeks later, which was week 44,week commencing 1st Nov with delivery about 3 weeks later. If you havn't got a confirmed build week yet, the mid October delivery looks very optimistic to say the least.

hi chaps,

I ordered my CC in week 24 on the 11th June and got a confirmation on week 31 around 30 th July that it would be going into build week 35 on the 30th August and my vehicle was with the dealer in London last week. Due to my CC being transported from London to Dundee i have had to wait an additional week ... Ho Hum...In theory it took in my experience 11 weeks from order to actual build and a further 2 - 3 until i have received it totalling around 14 weeks.... hope this is helpful to anyone.

Mine was scheduled to be built in week 37, two weeks behind of yours.

It actually went into production last friday so working on your time scales it should be at the dealer end of next week?

They told me 3 weeks max after going into production - can't wait now! Have a buyer for our current car all lined up as soon as this CC arrives. It's not even my car, it's for the missus but I think I am more excited than she is! :)

SO have you actually yet received your car yet Jon? If so has it got the RNS310 hi-fi? Can you confirm what bluetooth system has been fitted (fully integrated or the one with the pop-out 'Bury' keypad?')

cheers, Paul

Hi Paul,

My vehicle actually arrives with me tomorrow pm... I will check to see what Bluetooth system i have and keep you posted. However, on joining this forum and establishing that historically there has been an issue with the pop out system i decided to take the issue up with my local VW dealer and he assures me that my CC will come with fully integrated Bluetooth and compatible with my IPhone which was very reassuring. Only 1 sleep to go :beerchug:

What colour/spec/model have you chosen?

Look forward to hearing your views on the car and what BT system they are fitting.

That will be VERY nice - what colour leather?

We settled with a 140 GT in Island Grey, will prob get a tuning box on it to 170.

Would have gone for white, but I have a white M3, so thought it would be a bit too much of a statement having 2 white cars on the drive :biglaugh:

Hi guys... Replying from my iPhone so hope you get this, CC arrived yesterday and I was NOT disappointed at all. RNS510 was as promised fully integrated. To answer your question Paul about leather I just went for black which is so brill. I will take some pics later today and get them on asap. Best looking car around and I witnessed loads of head turning yesterday when driving.

SO to confirm, you didn't spec asn upgraded stereo and you received the car with the RNS510 fitted (instead of the standard RN310?)

I ordered my cc 170GT on 2nd June, and it arrived at the dealer on 9th September. Didnt receive it until Monday of this week due to problems with VW UK's new IT system not letting them tax it?????
Anyway, well worth the wait. It's Autumn Brown with panoramic roof, bi-xenons, MDI, ambient lighting and a heated screen.
It came with the bluetooth fully integrated, much better than that "Bury" unit, and they are now putting the MDI cable in a seperate compartment inside the glovebox.......not in the central armrest as shown in the brochure.

I reckon this new IT system has been the root of all these anticipated delivery problems.

Your car sounds cool though mate - what stereo did you order and which one is actually fitted?

Ordered the standard RNS310 and that's what I got.
Worth noting that unless you transfer the sat-nav data onto an SD card, it makes the CD player unavailable for music, if you want sat-nav to work. That's one big advantage of spending £900!!!! on the 510 with it's multi-player.

This is the reply I got back from the lease company what a pile of rubbish. I'd had words and i'll let you know what they say.

As per our telephone conversation yesterday, I have spoken with my boss regarding your vehicle and they have informed me that despite the vehicle you ordered being a cancelled vehicle it had not been built with Volkswagen and we have not yet received a build week.

Most build weeks we are now getting are coming into early next year so I would be prepared that once a build week has been confirmed you are going to be looking at delivery next year. Until a build week has been allocated I cannot be 100% sure about this, but by looking at orders we have currently going through Volkswagen, it is looking that way.

Unfortunately delays like this are coming from the limited production capacity at the factories, and not x lease company, so there is little we can do.

If you are unwilling to wait for your vehicle to come in, then we may be able to look at vehicles we have that are either in stock or are due to be built very soon.

Please can you advise me as to how you wish to proceed.

I apologize that there is little we are able to do regarding the Volkswagen lead times, and the delay this is causing your vehicle.

Not great news there Jon :(

VW seem to have really screwed up their production schedule at the moment. I think the IT system 'swapover' combined with difficulties with supply of the revised RNS310 head units are causing huge delays. To make matters worse they have heavily promoted cheap lease deals on cars they cannot supply. Maybe it is to keep residual values very high I don't know?

Ours comes into the dealer this week so am hoping to collect before/at the weekend and am hoping it will have the RNS510 fitted, maybe just to complete all orders on the 'old IT system' - ours was THE very last car ordered on it.

There are some lease companies boasting that they have limited stocks of this car so may be worth trying a few others. If they have connections with a VW dealer that has stock, you may get one sooner but wont be able to choose a spec. to suit yourself.

As previous, ordered with the dealer on 10th July but not input onto the "new" system until about 20th July, then allow for the factory shutdown in August and the crazy lease deals on CCs and no wonder VW can't cope and are quoting deliveries for next year.Waiting times are much longer these days due to production cutbacks,my son's Scirocco took 17 weeks back in 2009,but dealers are still quoting 12 weeks as a rule.

:confused:You guys have got me nervous enough to check with my dealer about this. I ordered my 170 GT at the beginning of September and the vw dealer in Nottingham still has no build week confirmed. I really really hope it's not going to run into next year before it's delivered. To make matters worse i've already hit my contracted 90k mileage limit for my current B6 Passat which is due to go back in December.

You are entitled to one, my lease company is quoting 20 weeks from placing the order, my current argument with them is that I placed the order on the 6th August. What they won't tell me is the date they placed it with VW.

If they held onto it for a couple of weeks.......why should I be penalised that couple of weeks because of their slow admin process?

Hi,

Lease Company called me today...ordered my car on the 12th July, still have not got confirmed build week but is on list for next slot.

Now telling me delivery approx 9th December, was meant to be 8th October, and apparently I am an early one!!

Now have had additional cost of service/tyre/mileage on current car and negotiating with Lease Company for some money back...here's hoping.

I guess if people have ordered anytime after mid July delivery will not be till the new year at the earliest.

Hey Ednaroad - my sypathies are with you.

I ordered mine with the lease comapny at the start of September and at the time was being quoted early November Delivery. That was just before the news hit about the delays. Also my car had already been ordered by the lease company, but i dont know how many weeks for.

I am now being told to not expect anything untill February next year and my car still doesnt have a build date either.

I am in a similar position to you with my existing car - it is actually getting picked up tomorrow> i am going on Holiday next week and have had to hire something for the week.

The lease company have said they can get me a hire car, but tbh the prices arent great and i really dont want get one till i at least have a build week for the CC. I am going to attempt November without a car - but i have a funny feeling that may not last long!!! :aargh4:

I know that this isn't related to a CC, but I ordered my Passat Estate in August and was told last Friday that I'm not going to get it as they have stopped building them! Obviously a signed agreement (contract) isn't binding by VW and I'm now left in the lurch without a car as I put mine in and they've since sold it (complicated story). I've complained to VW but they are just giving me the run around and passing the buck to various departments - be warned!:(

Just to put the cat amongst the pigeons, and bearing in mind that my build week is 44,if VW have stopped producing Passat saloons/estates and are all set to produce the B7 what is happening to the CC.
The new B7 has the electric handbrake switch mounted next to the gearlever and an analogue clock set into the middle of the dash.It looks as if VW have not altered the general arrangement of the dash/centre console so are these mods going to be introduced on the CC shortly and how "shortly" ?????????

Ordered mine 10/07/10 Build week from dealer week 44,Sinclair Swansea.
Checked today & told it might have been put back a week, then the computer was playing up and they'd get back to me,no call back before close of play,gits.1st call tomorrow morning so we'll see.Waited so long now a week isn't going to make much difference, any more and delivery is so close to the end of the year it would be foolish to register it as a 2010 for the sake of a few days.VAT goes up on Jan 3rd so possible to register as a 2011 and miss the increase.

VAT is payable on goods purchased on or after a particular date - so would it not be feasible to come to an arrangement with the dealer to have the car invoiced for Jan 1st, paid in full before January 1st i.e. paid by December 31st, and then registered on January 3rd?

Just got the following from my lease company:

"VW have informed us this week, that all vehicles on order will now be built with the new Blue Motion Technology engines, hence the delay in build. They have now stopped production of the current engine and will be upgrading all of the engines to the above. Your vehicle (WHEN IT ARRIVES) will have the new more fuel efficient lower C02 engines, which means that you will get much better fuel economy combined with the same power. The engines have the stop start facility as standard, and for company car users the lower C02 emissions will result in lower car tax.

VW have informed us that they will not commence build on this upgraded engine until week 45 (Week commencing 8th of Nov), once VW start production of the new engine customers will be allocated a build week, from that date onwards, although there is a large back log. Realistically we donít expect to see any of these vehicles with yourselves, until Jan/Feb next year."

Had been pondering jsut cancelling my order, but i just cant see anything close in terms of a deal, and a bit better economy is going to help.

What will be interesting will be to compare notes when the build dates start rolling in! We can only hope!!!!!!!;)

What puts you off stop/start ?. I have the latest VW 2.0 TDI 140CR with stop/start in my 2010 Passat B6 Highline Plus, and as vwparly says, it soon grows on you, and makes you wonder why all new cars don't do this. No need to have the engine running if you aren't going anywhere.
There's a button beside the gear lever if you want to turn the feature off. As a company car driver I will personally save in excess of £1000 in company car tax (BIK) over the non stop/start version over the next three years, due to the far lower emissions, 124g/km against 146g/km.

Whilst I appreciate it's fuel saving features I like to think that I'm in control of my engine,if I want a quick off from a junction or roundabout it's reassauring to know that I haven't got that thought in the back of my mind as to whether or not I've been quicker than the stop start system. It's probably all in the mind and actually driving it won't be a problem. As mine's a private purchase the tax benifit doesn't affect me and as I only cover about 10,000 miles a year the extra mpg isn't going to make much difference either. This is my first diesel and I have to admit that after driving reasonably fast 16 valve,VR6,Merc supercharged and Audi 2.0 turbo petrols for the past 20 years I await the delivery of the CC with some trepidation. The car itself is, in my opinion, one of the smartest looking saloons on the road and I'm quite happy to swap my MKII Audi TT,"the best looking 2 door coupe":D for a CC but the 20 week wait is really getting to me now.

Hi - did you get any other information in terms of how different the CO2 emissions are likely to be?

Probably similar to those of the new Passat B7, which can only be ordered with Bluemotion Technology diesels as of today, whether it's a 1.6TDI or 2.0TDI 140 or 170 model

My 2010 2.0 TDI 140 Passat B6 Bluemotion Technology has emissions of 124g/km.

Might be worth the wait. The B7 140 DSG comes in at 135 g/km and the 170 DSG at just 139 g/km.

Company car tax is why I chose the 140 Bluemotion Technology model over the normal 140. I save just over £1000 over the next three years. Far rather I had it than the tax man.

Was on to my lease company, and they have told me that VW are expecting to allocate build weeks for the outstanding orders over the next week, so fingers crossed we should all know more soon.

I have a hire car this week that makes me appreciate what a good car drives like. 1.6 petro astra . It drives as if I am telling somone else where I want to go and then they wait a bit then do it. I wondered why it only had 5 gears till I tried accelerating up a hill in 5th on the motorway - I actually was beginning to think the accelarator wasn't working!!! Truly awful car, even though it doesn't look that bad.

I really can't wait for my CC!!!!

hmmmmm - got these back today.....about the Passat CC and Bluemotion engines....

From VW....

Many of our models are now available with what we call Bluemotion
Technology. This includes start stop and a multifunction computer as
well as other features that help make the vehicle more fuel efficient
and lower the Co2 emissions. Bluemotion Technology is not currently
available on the Passat CC but at some point this may happen. It won't
be November but possibly later on next year. I imagine we will offer
Bluemotion Tech on our entire range as we try to bring down the cost of
motoring and the impact it has on the environment.

From the lease company....

Looking through the information we have been sent and the details on the VW website, we only have the current model details.
Once VW release the new models and engine data will be know how the C02 emission rates have changed.

So now I'm at sad.com :(

Not according to the German website, not sure if it's the one mentioned above,on the german configurator for the CC it even gives the prices for the various models and shows a CC with a Bluemotion badge stuck on the right hand side of the bootlid.

So who's telling the truth,is it available in Germany but not UK ??????

I'm with you Scooby... I'm really confused. I emailed VW back tonight and mentioned the German website and added the link so let see if anything comes back, also I'll call their cust serv line tomorrow and see if I can flush any info out.

My order window has an interim closure tomorrow where they send off the orders placed to date. I've tempted to hold on a few more weeks to clarify the engine position as it's going to cost me a difference in the region of £50 p/m (including tax) if I go from from manual to DSG with the current engines and when I look at the overall lease costs and tax, it's more that I planned to pay.

With such long lead times on delivery, a few weeks isn't the end of the world - especially when I have to live with my choice of car for 4yrs.

Drifty
20-10-2010, 04:24 PM
I called the customer service number on the VW UK website and also called Citygate Watford and asked about the engines.

Neither one knew of any changes to the current engines. The guy at Citygate also looked on the VW "internal system" so see if any updates had been posted anout forthcoming changes and there was no details.

I did ask about why the German website (and only the German) is showing different engines but neither VW or Citygate knew why this may be.

No response back from my email contact at VW either.

Like my post on the Ambient lighting thread, don't shoot the messenger, just passing the info on...

So Scooby....I'm officially at sadandconfused.com now/

Drifty,I'm not at "sad&confused.com" more plain "confused.com".
I ordered my car in July, and to be honest, if it turns up exactly as it was then I'll be more than happy. If it turns up with "Bluemotion" and repositioned switches then that'll be a bonus.I appreciate that Bluemotion means a lot of money for some business users but it probably only means an extra couple of miles a gallon for me.

I got this from VW today...

As we are currently going through some very frustrating times, I wanted to update you with information that we received from Volkswagen late last night, regarding outstanding orders.

All vehicles not yet confirmed for build will be subject to Week 45 / 2011 model year update. Although on some models, these enhancements are very minor and mainly cosmetic, the changes that need to be made behind the scenes are a much bigger challenge than first realised. Volkswagen have brought in a team to manually make the changes, as the 2 systems are not ' talking to each other'. They are treating this as a matter of urgency, now that they understand what the issue is.

We believe that vehicles should have build weeks back in place by the end of the week, and so we hope to update you at the beginning of next week.

Volkswagen have a commitment to factory, for vehicles to be built, so we are assured that build weeks will fall back in line.

Thank you for your ongoing patience. We promise to let you know more as soon as we do.

---

Ordered my CC 17th July, just been informed today that my build week has now slipped to 47 and delivery date to W/C 20th December.

Also informed that VW have changed their procedure regarding the CC and orders running more than 16 week are entitled to a loan car, great news although they also state this does not include three 3 weeks their order system was offline.

So at week 19 from order we should all be receiving a loan car to see us until the CC arrives. Here's hoping

me --> Hi - I've heard rumors that VW are to change the engines on the Passat CC range to use Bluemotion/more efficient engines. The German and French VW sites are already showing them - are you aware of any changes to the UK models?

Barnaby Jones -->
Two new engines will be available in Passat CCs built from 8th November. The 2.0 TDI 140 and 170 will be replaced with more economical and lower-CO2 Bluemotion Technology 140 and 170 versions. Exact figures havenít been revealed, but check whatcar.com (http://whatcar.com/) nearer the time for full details.

It looks like the 154g/km that you have seen is for the TDI 4motion 170 DSG (not sure that is even available in the UK CCs!?)

The normal TDI 170 DSG shows 144g/km (129g for the manual).

Bad news.

Your car is still in the factory. Customer services told me this today. VW reported earlier this week that there were issues with the black trim on Touareg, it appears that this also affects CC. I have copied their quote below.

We have received a high number of calls about Touareg orders that are being delayed at 'Check point 7'. The Factory has confirmed that this has been caused by a restricted supply of decorative inserts.

Unfortunately, we cannot confirm whether this is a short-term or long-term delay, but will keep you updated on Desktop.

As you can see, we really do not know when it will be released. Obviously VW will not take the hire car from you until yours does arrive.

Do you know whether your car is 2011 model or not.I'm getting a bit worried about my car now as I've also specced the Black trim.It does not appear as an option on the NEW Passat saloon and not on the CC on the German website.Although I'm build week 48 (this week) I'm wondering whether it's going to be 2011 model or like yours a 2010 waiting for Black trim.:confused::confused::confused::conf used:

Just spoke to vwcs , car now at checkpoint 8 ( onroute from factory to emden port ). Probably 3-4 weeks to reach uk due to some port closures caused by adverse weather conditions & backlog of cars at port. Confirmed as week 45 build . My dealer said it will be january before i get car now but i am ok with that while i have my support car.

In view of all the "fairy stories" you've been told I don't want to add to your woes but the en-route distance is about 300 metres.Do a google earth on the port of Emden and they can virually push the car from the factory to the ship.

I wonder ... has anyone actually received a new 2011 spec (week 45+) car as yet?
I ordered my CC in late September (170 GT manual with aircon nappa, keyless entry, MDI and heated screen) and so far the expected delivery date I have been given by the lease company is supposed to be 1st week in January 2011. Reading some of the posts on here, I expect that has gone out of the window but I'd kind of hope the car will be the new version!

I think that the date might be slightly optimistic, ordered mine on 10th July and I'll be lucky to get it in the first week of Jan 2011.
I think CC170GT will be the first on here to get week 45 car.

Ordered mine early August, 170GT DSG, order confirmed 24th August, (why does it take 2 weeks to process the order) provisional build week 01, 2011, I have been told it will be the new model.

I tried to amend the order by adding a heated windscreen and was told I couldn't as the order had been 'frozen' and there's me thinking you could change the order just prior to build time but it seems you have to do a month or more before.

First "thing" I noticed, but after looking at the picture I decided that it was a quickly put together remake of the old view.Somebody's done a really poor job of the clock face ,looks like a blob,so hopefully the thing won't be on the new car.RNS315 is supposed to be Bluetooth compatable.

hmm I did wonder what that was. now I look at the picture, you can see it's a poorly put together image .... such a shame they havent done it properly. All the c,ose ups show the original version. It also still lists the RNS310 instead of the 315.

It certainly is a awful mockup. They would have been better to use the German pics and photoshop them from left to right hand drive and adjust the labelling, etc

They have the start/stop button in view, but if you click on the gearstick you get a pic without it.... very shoddy. also, I notice they haven't changed the DSG gearstick to the newer design yet...

Seems odd the German website has been updated for weeks - and yet the UK one is changing bits here and there ... first the engine emissions details dropped, then a few weeks after they labelled the engines as bluetooth, then a couple of weeks later a ropry 360 mockup.

I thought German = quality and efficiency:biglaugh:

We have 2 cars on order at work. 1 was ordered Mid August and this has now been confirmed as Built to the new spec and on a Boat to the UK. Not sure why people who ordered in July are still waiting when this one is clearly on its way over. This was confirmed by the dealer who is taking delivery of it. We are told it will be there before Christmas!

Second one was ordered in Early October but as yet no build week has been given.

3.50 I get a one line text and a one line e-mail "car at factory status, will update you on Friday" ah well, call me old fashioned, but when I'm spending £27k on a car I expect a better response.I had a few choice words with the salesman and I don't think he'll text me again. :aargh4::aargh4::aargh4::aargh4:Where's the nearest cliff.............................

Originally ordered my car on 10th July with one option being "folding mirrors ".The following day I noticed that if you spec the 12 way electric seats you get the mirrors with the package so I changed my spec to reflect this and pointed out to the salesman that he needed to delete the mirrors before adding the electric seats. He rang a few days later to say that the VW system wouldn't accept my order as there was an error occurring, reminded him to delete the mirrors and hey presto the order was accepted.
Car was then Build 44 then 45 and then went to 49 and finally back to 48.
I was eagerly awaiting build last week and as posted was showing at"Factory Status" on Tuesday but no more info.
My original salesman left the dealership about a month ago and my new contact was told by his manager to check that the spec on my car was correct and unfortunately he noticed that it wasn't showing "folding mirrors".Well bless his heart he somehow managed to update the order and as of today my car has not yet been built as "there is a conflict with options ordered on my car"
So I again pointed out to my new salesman that if he checked the brochure it lists the seats and mirrors as a package and just as clearly states that folding mirrors and electric seats can't be ordered together.
So car not built,no info as to when and delivery even further away.:aargh4::aargh4::aargh4::aargh4:

Many apologies if this is old news, if it is i am really surprised that this was not general knowledge as the forum members on here seem quite switched on.

The simple and concise fact is that 'your' cars have been built and are impressing their new owners. They have been built and sold on to customers in the Eurozone as that is where VW stand the best chance of actually making any kind of profit on cars like the CC. I read 4/5 pages of this thread and could not believe that someone had not worked it out as people were given so many varied and weak stories by the leasing companys and VW. It is merely common business sense that drives the decision, and it isn't just the Euro. When i worked within the Subaru franchise it was openly discussed that they simply could not afford to bring new models over to the UK as the Yen was too strong at the time (2008). Subaru has maybe the most loyalty and brand retention of any car manufacturer but customers had to wait.

TBH it is hard to blame the bods at VW and the leasing company's that you may be dealing with as these decisions happen at a much higher level and by the financial directors of VAG.

It is fruitless getting upset and wanting to beat the salesman like a ginger haired stepchild. If we had all bought diesel Rover 75's at the time this would never of happened!

Again apologies if this wasn't mentioned by someone 15 pages ago, i only started reading this side of the forum as i have been offered a cheap CC in the trade. After reading about the frustration and length of the delays i shall bang this one on Autotrader for £2k over list!

Hope the new year brings your new steeds gentlemen.

Ordered my 170 DSG mid August and the delivery delay made me suspicious that it just wasn't component supply problems so had a word with VW customer care a month or so ago, suggesting exchange rate differences and that VW were sending cars to the rest of the world and not to the UK because it was more profitable, and guess what, they denied it.

PHIL140's point may well have some truth in it but it also must be costing VW a small fortune keeping UK customers in hire cars for months on end. Not sure where the break even point would be but it does not sound like good business to me.

So BarCar ..... have you collected it? can yo post up any pics??

Collected it this morning :-) and took it out into Kent to stretch it's legs this afternoon. It's such a smooth ride. The bluemotion works well and the DSG gear changes are unnoticable.

Really pleased with the 2011 spec. The clock on the dash looks better than I expected.

Surprised how much stuff just worked without setup - the MDI with my iPod, bluetooth connectivity to an iPhone, SatNav, etc.

Absolutely chuffed!

Will try and get some pics up in the next few days.

Hi BarCar,

Really pleased that you seem to be enjoying the car. Looking forward to some piccies!

Please can you answer a couple of questions to finally lay some of the older debates to bed:-

1. Is the bluetooth properly built into the headunit and is it a standard headunit (RNS315)?

2. Whereabouts is your MDI cable located as it used to be in centre console but I heard others say they had it in the glove box?

I a still waiting for a build date for our 2 company cars we have on order mind you it was only beginning of September that we ordered them so looking at the wait some of the others are having we aren't expecting anything until next March.

Hi Skyliner,

Bluetooth is built in to the standard RNS315 unit. No other boxes required. I just told it to pair with my iPhone 4 and it worked. Paired it with my wife's phone too so you can have more than one phone set up and easily select which one is connected if you are both in the car.

The factory fit MDI cable is in a compartment inside the passenger glove box. There's a generic USB cable and it came with an additional iPod dock cable.

Hope that helps. Good luck with your deliveries.

One thing I haven't figured out yet... the RNS315 is supposed to be "DAB compatible" but I don't see that as an option. May it's "compatible" as in "works if you buy an upgrade"?

I'm being told that the RNS315 is the only option that now provides DAB and that the RCD510 option is no longer available.

Hi BarCar

Many thanks for the answers.

Great news on the Bluetooth as when we ordered ours none of the dealers could answer the question and earlier CC's came with the Bury box mounted on the dash!

It's a pity about the cable in the glove box though! We own a Jeep with an MDI cable and that is also in the glove box. Although its my wife who mainly drives the car, whenever I drive it, it is a pain having to reach across and plug it in. Also I am forever forgeting to remove my phone when I leave the car! Luckily the Jeep also has a harddrive so apart from listening to podcasts I have put our favourite music on that so don't plug it in that often.

Just been informed by the dealer that the 16 week wait for a hire car has been changed to when the order was accepted in Germany, in my case that was a month ago although the order was accepted by VW UK mid August so was going to have to wait another 2 months for the hire car by which time (hopefully) my car will have arrived.

The dealer argued my case on the grounds of customer satisfaction and loyalty and I have been told I'll get a hire car today.

What's going on, are VW UK feeling the pinch?

Theres so many different stories its hard to know whether you are coming or going. All I know is we have 2 cars ordered here both on Personal leases. My Friend got a Hire car out of VW bang on 16 weeks. That was 16 weeks from the very day he placed the order. They was no arguing about dates it just arrived no problem at all. I think different dealers are starting to cut back or not telling the truth in hope people just go away for a few weeks to save some money.

I shall be mighty ****** off if that is the case, My current company Car goes back on the 5th January and I was originally told my new car would arrive in January so I managed to get another car for 3 weeks until the Courtesy car came. After that time I am going to be carless if no courtesy car until possibly march which simply isnt acceptible. They can't keep messing people around saying one thing and then another when the time actually comes!

Are there any distinguishing features between the RNS310 and the RNS315 installed in the 2011 spec cars?

The reason I ask is that I was given the opportunity to test drive a passat CC GT at the weekend and the head unit looks identical to the images seen above.

FYI, I had the car all weekend & it was cracking to drive ...... like night & day compared to the Vectra I have to 'endure' at the moment!!

The RNS310 looks identical to the RNS315, and 99% works the same. The main thing that really bugs me about my earlier RNS310 is that once a route has been calculated you can't view that entire route on a map, only as a step by step guide, as in a road number list. I like to see the whole route on a map as sometimes I don't want to take the route it suggests, so without getting a map out and checking, or you know your road numbers well, you don't know which way it will take you.
The 315 also has a dedicated virtual internal memory for the navigation data storage, mine is on the removable SD car along with my music files and everything else I store on it. The 315 has the option of 2D or 3D map view, the 310 is 3D only, so there's a couple more options pop up in the menus. It works ok ish, but is a fairly basic sat nav system, and would be greatly improved if you could enter a full 7 digit postcode.
Sorry for the poor photo quality - mobile phone etc.

thanks for the info johnloaderuk. I found by twiddling the centr knob you could zoom out of the map viw but as you say it doesnt give you a complete view of the route if your travelling any significant distance. Not as polished as a Tomtom but then I didnt expect it would be. Glad to hear about the internal storage ... maybe that will speed up rout calculation time also!

Thanks for the pics BarCar - I've also gone for the black and it looks great.

Have you managed to get DAB out of the RNS315 yet - I'll be extremely miffed if it doesn't do it (I rely on it in my current B6). I've been told by my dealer that it definitely does DAB. I also had a demo car recently with the RNS310 and the manual was for both the 310 and 315 - from what I remember there was a section on the DAB radio for the 315.

I think it would be hard to tell from the head unit.

I haven't seen an RNS310 since I did my test drive last summer. The manual provided covers both the RNS310 & RNS315 and says that differences are highlighted - but on a skim read I didn't see anything obvious. There is only one set of images in the manual for both models.

Talking to the dealer earlier today, best I can tell is that DAB support in the RNS315 is something that may be added as an option later but it's not there today.

The table at the bottom of this page - http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a6/rns315-GPS-FAQ-VW.htm - compares the two models. The RNS315 has 4GB of internal flash memory for maps and supports Bluetooth media playback (as well as bluetooth phone integration of course).

Dealer told me it's compatible but not supported yet. He expected it would be a simple upgrade when it's available.

But to be honest he could be talking out of his hat. Seems the dealers know as little as we do.

Certainly, after much knob twiddling, I haven't found a DAB option. If anybody else figures it out I'd be happy to know...

I think it's an odd design decision (retro) but it does look better than I expected. If I'd been designing I would have run the dash trim seamlessly up to the clock face rather than having the vertical breaks which you can see in the picture with the small bit of silver in a different finish. The clock face itself it pretty unoffensive and lights up nicely (white) with the rest of the dash.

Wife is less convinced than I am. She would have preferred storage drawers for "stuff" as per 2010 spec.

If it's blue motion, then it should have the start/stop technology? IIRC all the 45+ built cars should be. if its anything like the BMW start/stop system ... the engine should switch off when you pull up, engage auto-hold and take it out of gear. it will then automatically restart when you depress the clutch.

When you draw to a stop (foot brake) the engine cuts out. As soon as you take your foot off the brake the engine starts again.

Haven't played around too much but, if you are stopped for long I guess you could flick the parking brake switch or shift the gear to P. will try it out and report back.

Has anyone on a Lease contract through a 3rd party leasing company been issued with a hire car after 16 weeks? Or is it only applicable to those who "purchase" the car through a dealer?
I ordered my CC in early September through a leasing company so 16 weeks is rapidly approaching!

Spoke to my lease company today, like most I'm really frustrated with the lack of info. I ordered my CC 140 GT in white & Truffle Leather in the first week in September so the elusive 16 week barrier is this/next week.
I made a proposal to the lease rep. "ask VW if they will throw in the MDI option for free and I won't go after them for a hire car". That to me sounds like a good deal! a hire car for at least 6/8 weeks or a £110 option on the car which, probably actually costs VW less than a quarter of the option cost.
Lets see what they say?

If your request gets the ok just don't add it to the factory order or your build will restart from scratch! Good luck.

My personal frustration is that my order was placed with VW at the end of Aug. Therefore I'm now eligible for the Hire Car. My lease company asked for my licence etc and told me to expect a call within 72hrs.

I heard nothing until last Thursday when my Lease chap called. He informed that VW were in crisis meetings over meeting the demand for hire cars. He said that his dealer had been told their strategy is now to change message and state that ELIGIBILITY FOR THE HIRE CAR IS 16 WEEKS FROM THE ORDER ACCEPTANCE AT THE FACTORY!

This pushes my eligibility back to the 11th Jan and you can you can imagine leaves me very frustrated.

The feeling from my lease company and dealer is by upsetting a number of customers with this approach, they may lose some orders and relieve some of the pressure their facing.

I'm going to contact VW directly tomorrow and see what I can find out from the horse's call centre!

P.S. Do I have any idea when my car will even be built?........................More chance of seeing a rotund jolly fella coming down my chimney on Friday night!! ;)
