Hi all,

Currently restoring the wheel arches and areas near the sills etc on my 1996 N plate Golf Tdi Mk3. The sill trim is riveted on to the metalwork near the two wheel arches and due to some corrosion damage, refitting them will be a bit of a challenge as I had to pull out the aluminum rivets to actually remove the trim.

Any ideas on how to refit them? Is there some kind of plastic pop fastener I could use for example? I don't want to use rivets, as it would be nice to be able to remove them easily from time to time. Its always a good idea to be able to remove these things, as crap will collect behind the trim and cause serious corrosion damage....which is what happened in my case, though fortunately the sills were generally ok.

The front wing near the sill on the OSF was totally eaten through as 14 years worth of ***** had gradually got behind the plastic trim and collected there slowly eating it apart...

any advice would be helpful.

cheers,

Luke
