I am considering carrying out the next service on my 3.0 Tdi myself and as an engineer by trade have the skills and tools to do so. Wht I don't have is the means to reset the service warning. I plan to do the work to the Audi spec and using genuine parts, just not pay all that money for the labour. I have an ELSAwin printout of the work required and frankly it's really straight forward stuff.
Is there any way of resetting this without the expensive kit, can I get a cable and software for my laptop for example, to do this?

I've decided to take my A8 to a nearby Audi specialist to service, not just due to the service indicator needing a reset but also I am so busy at work that I just don't have time to do the service and it's due now and I want to keep her running as she does now.
The independant has had some local recommendations so I'll let you know how I get on.

The car went into AM Audi Quatro specialists in Ilminster, Somerset and they did the full service as required did the transmission oil change and even gave the car a good clean and the best bit was that the bill was about a third less than it would have been at the main dealer and I felt that my car was in safe hands with guys that were really into their Audis!
