2006 A3 2.0TDI S-Tronic 60K+ on clock

I’m really struggling with the the gearbox. From a standing start when I press the accelerator the car seem to want to think about it for a split second, then starts to pull really slowly for a further split second, then once your going it roars into life as you would expect it to. The Lag is really annoying and has created so many dangerous situations with pulling out and its a total pain making the finer movements like inching back and forth when parallel parking. Its totally missing that feeling of the power is always there, aways instant and can therefore be controlled easier.

I have had petrol autos before and was pretty impressed with the response from a stand still. I have had a couple of rentals over the years on Manual Diesels and although the performance is not as good as petrol, once the clutch bites your away. This is my first diesel auto.

Is there something wrong with my car or is the Diesel & Auto mix always bad.

I've had car for 1 year, this issue makes it feel so gutless and annoying to drive I'm thinking of selling it, but I have to say apart from this starting issue the car is fine and I can't fault the gearbox in normal driving, motorway etc.

I think there is something wrong with your car. I doubt the gearbox oil would cause such a problem, but Audi recommend the oil is changed every 50,000 mls (its an expensive oil change).

Suggest you take it to Audi or a specialist, and have them take it for a test drive.

at 60k it should have been changed and dsg oil changes are 40k,its worth a fault code read from the engine as well as the box,air mass meters can cause grief but dont always throw a code but can seriously damage your box..........................

You could both be onto something and this could be worth checking out. Service book states; “ATF in multitronic gearbox” 40k miles and “Oil and oil filter in S tronic” at 40k miles.
However, of all the tick boxes on the various services completed, only the “AFT in multitronic” was done at 42k miles. “Oil and filter on DSG” is either a No or Not ticked. Given the car is at 60K+ miles a DSG oil change is probably well over due. I'll be pretty impressed if it was as simple as this.
