NEED ECU RE-CODING TO CAR, vw golf 1.8 n-reg

hi ppl i have a vw golf 1.8GL petrol/manual on a N-reg/1996 i had to buy a new ecu but then when i bought that they told me it needed coding to the car :zx11: i was rather peed off cos ive already payed for a ecu which just cost me 80quid and vw wanted 111 for the coding, so can anyone help out im in the wakefield area, thanks guys/gals
