I've got a hugely annoying rattle coming from somewhere near the passenger side air vent (the one on the dash I think).

I vaguely recall seeing a link on here to a german PDF with details of a fix - does anyone still have it?

No idea on the pdf, but i had my vent and the ducting replaced a few months back - made bugger all difference - at certain temperatures it creaks/groans over every bump/vibration from the road.

Same here I'm afraid, identical problem. Seems to be a common issue on the Mark 6.

I've given up going back to the dealers to get it resolved. It's been in 4 times, each time the fault is claimed to be fixed and the car test driven by the engineer, but is clearly audible pulling out of the parking bay upon pickup.

I've been pretty happy with the car in itself, but the trim is not so good.

There is a thread on here somewhere about this, there is a known problem with the pipe to the vent coming loose, the dealer should have the fix, basically they fit a tywrap on the hose to retain it and stop it coming loose.
Try search under rattle, though you will get a lot of hits lol.

OK I found it for you

except that fix doesn't work - as evidenced by both mine and Magilla's experience. That repair bulletin is more under the dash anyway, whereas my issue is at the actual dash vent.

If you want it fixed, best have a go yourself i think.
