A2 low rev problem

I've just purchased a 2003 A2 1.6 fsi for my wife and the car judders at low revs in 1st or reverse. Once up the revs the car runs very well but to avoid judder we have the revs high at low speeds. On day one the EPC Engine Management System light was on and the car went back to supplying dealer and was reset, but the low rev problem hasn't gone away. Has anybody come across this? Gerard
