a4 2.0 tdi emmisions light

im writing this for my mum who has an 07 plate a4 2.0tdi 140ps

she was driving along normaly and the emmisions light came on but didnt seem to affect anything she had the code removed and its been fine for a month or so and all of a sudden it comes back on again the car drives fine and no problems just the light

she drives the car quite gently dont think ive ever seen it go past 3k revs


anyone have any ideas for what it could be

welcome to the forum. trying to guess is impossible. a fault code will be logged though, so you need to extract the fault code using suitable computerised technology. you could get a vag dealer to do it, a local garage, or someone on here with vcds. when you have the code, let us know what it is and we should be able to point you in the right direction.

i got the fault code and it p2002 which says its the particulate emmisions filter

Does the car have a DPF fitted?

i think it may have the filter i will check the engine number when she gets home and report back
