no brakes

my mate was out driving his 2005 superb last nite and went to press the brakes the pedal just went to the floor and there was no brakes at all any ideas please

could be many things. if the brakes were working and he had been using them hard, and they worked again after the pedal sank, then it could be overdue for a fluid change, as water in the fluid could have boiled releasing compressable vapour. if it sank and hasnt returned, then it could have leaked all the fluid out from a leaky thing, or it could be a failed master cylinder. more details of the event are required.
