tailgate flushing mk4 golf

Hi all
first of all can anyone tell me if 3dr and 5dr mk4 golf tailgate the same?
i have bought a second hand tailgate that i am totally flushing,
is the boot pop easy to fit,i need to know this before i weld the handle up.
also does anyone recommend welding a plate into the badge recess?

Yeah, there the same mate.

Badges come off with a bit of dental floss down the back and they just cut through the foam on the back.
To get the foam off I always use a jetwash and it kind of scrapes off with the water.

With the VW badge, I replaced the Mk4 Golf one with a Sharen one, there smaller and abit more dome looking, alot nices.
I dont like the boot completely clean, but its your car... I would probably weld up the badge recess if thats the way your going.

You can fit a mk5 bagde, which is also the handle, and thats a nice mod to do.
