Turbo went pop

The turbo on my A4 2.0TDI(140) blew the other week:mad:.
I had an ECU remap done a couple of years ago now with the remapped engine putting out 185bhp. As the remap was done around 2 years ago do you think it was the cause of the turbo failure or was it just a case of sod's law? It's done 92k miles by the way!

what do you mean by blew ? sheared shaft or spat its guts out ?

Not sure of the details as not really mechanically minded but the mechanic showed me the old turbo and the 'turbine blades?' of the turbo were minced! My mechanic doesn't seam to think it was due to the remap as no direct adjustment of the turbo was done, just the timings were adjusted via the ECU I think as the turbo now runs a lot longer into the rev range.
