service due warning,then engine workshop!

me again,about a 1000 miles ago service due warning appeared,now comes up every time i start, i also just had an engine workshop start flashing periodically,what i am hoping to find out is if this happens automatically if you dont get the service warning turned off,or is this a coincidental new problem!!!
any suggestions gratefully received,cheers,adam p s car still driving exactly the same.

No, it is a coincidence, the car is telling you it needs a service now and the MIL has come on to say there is a problem, a code read for which should be part of the service.

ok thanks for that,timing belt,oil and filters changed 5000 miles ago,so unsure why needing a service?anyway will get codes read,see what they say,thanks again

reset the service light and it wont bother you for another 10k .

Sounds like someone reset the service warning using VGA-COM?VCDS SRI reset, it has a funny habit of setting the mileage alert at 5K miles.

yip that could be,and seems engine workshop,with glowplug warning light tied into braking system also,have a brake light out,so see if that sorts it!ta for advice,cheers
