Door open or closed?

Hi...

My passat doesn't know when the front drivers door is open or closed. Resulting in the courtesy light staying on, the puddle light staying on and a very difficult car to lock.

Anyone know where I need to look to remedy this problem?

check for a pin switch. not sure where it is though!

I believe they are in the lock, a small micro switch, thats where they are on my 99 TDi.

I've just done mine (98 tdi sport), be very, very careful when dismantling switchbox cos if the bits fall out (like mine did) it's not easy to figure out how it goes back together correctly.
