I have a problem with my Mk4 golf GTI 1.8 turbo and cannot get VW to do anything about it without signing a blank cheque. The car is running like a dog and the engine management light is on.The VAG-COM is recording two errors - These are:
Camshaft A (intake) advance setpoint not reached (over retarded) and
Pressure drop between turbo and throttle valve (check DV)
This car has been to numerous garages and VW dealers and I have had coil packs, the air mass meter, temp sender and various pipes replaced but nothing seems to fix the problem. I am now stuck with a car that will not run properly and which VW say I will have to leave with them and pay for a full day's labour to troubleshoot. I have already forked out a fortune in labour and parts and have got no where, so I am reluctent to pay any more to them. Life was much easier and less expensive when I had the mk 2 GTI. Can anyone give me a clue as to what the problem might be? Thanks
