Passat B5.5 how to electrics

B5.5 Towbar Electrics
Hi I've searched for some topics on this but can't find much info.

Does anyone know the correct way to wire the electrics for a towbar on a passat. I would like to do this properly but not sure if I need bypass replays etc.

If someone could post a link or a guid with diagrams I'd appreciate it.

The best possible way to install electrics is to install the vehicle specific dedicated electrics which simply plug into the loom on the car, alternativley to keep the price down i would also recommend the single/twin or 13 pin electrics with a bypass relay, you wire the towing socket into the bypass relay then crimp/solder the wires from the bypass relay into the wiring at the rear lights, You will also have to supply the bypass relay with a fused permanent 12v live feed which can either be run from a cigarette lighter or a permanent live feed in the boot area or alternativley from the fuse box at the front of the car or the battery, we can also supply a data sheet with the colours specific to the vehicle to make this easier to identify the correct wires Thanks Dale
