Anbody reccomend a specialist for turbo repair or replacement in Greater Manchester area?:beerchug:
and any idea of cost if you have been unfortunate enough to need this!

Well tried VW for a quote on Turbo replacement, including VAT a few quid under £1600, tried an independant VW specialist I have used before the quote....£1300 inc VAT. So thought I'd try getting a quote for buying a turbo, from Tait Euroturbo's in Oldham £595 + VAT inc all gaskets etc... for an OEM replacement turbo. So both quoted me as a 5hr job to complete, by my reckoning that means VW are charging £180/hr and the independant £120/hr !! I'm definitely in the wrong job!!
Now looking for a garage with reasonable rates to fit a turbo!!
Any assist would be appreciated.

Well new turbo fitted and timing belt / oil change service at same time, car running smooth and quiet (Well as quiet as a TDI can be!) no police siren sounds, which last week had inceased in volume to a worrying level so thought it was time to cough the cash before ending up with major engine damage if the turbo let go completely. A little worrying in a car with 65k on the clock at 4 years old. But to be fair with total cost of ownership over 4 years has been pretty good.....apart from the Throttle body failure & turbo failure this year!!!
Looks like I'll be keeping the Jetta for at least another year to get value for money out of the thick end of £1300 (and close to £500 for throttle body failure) .....never owned a car for 4 years before!
I think she owes me a bill free 12 months pleeeeaasssseeeeee!!
