Engine code ???

Hi
Does any one know what the engine code for my C4 A6 2.5 Tdi Quattro is?
Or where i need to look to find it? :o

its the 140bhp I5 engine.

Engine code could be AEL?

The code will be on the sticker in spare wheel well in the boot.

AEL-140 bhp, standard 6 speed manual or optional 4 speed automatic. AAT -115 bhp, 5 speed manual or 4 speed auto g'box. If it has a red I on the boot, then its a 140 bhp. If its a 6 speed manual, its deffinatelly a 140/AEL engine. The only difference between the 2 engines are the injector nozzles and the ECU...not too difficult to upgrade ! Hope this helps.

AAT engines had 6 speed option since the audi 100.

Never seen a 6 speed AAT engined audi 100 or A6...but you could be right ! I used to have the automatic AEL a6, loved it untill the g'box vent pop-near Madrid- and drove 2000Km in 3rd gear at 4000 rpms ! After that, i bought the 6 speed quattro a4 v6 tdi and love it to bits ! Way cheaper to replace a clutch than overhaul a auto box.

My AAT A6 avant registared on 1/8/94 has a 6 speed box, it was an option on the 115bhp 5 cyl tdi, standard on the 140 bhp AEL.
