Anybody had this done on a 1.4 Tsi 122 ?

Looking for better economy with a moderate power increase, probably only do 10k per annum.

Cost effective ?

It seems VW can do this, but haven't made a firm enquiry with them yet

Cheers

VW will remap your car? Really? How much - will the warranty be valid - etc?

I was just about to start the same thread about my tsi 122.

I can't imagine for a minute that VW would remap but it would be great if they did. They would surely be losing money straight away as people would just buy less powerful cars then remap them.

I'm thinking of using Bluefin to remap mine but need to do LOTS of research first.

Yes VW do this.

It seems the warranty is covered by VW Sport (or something like that) in case of any problems.
Servicing & warranty work is done as normal at the dealer

This was from the dealer, costs are around £500 + depending on any extra work required (suspension/brakes/exhausts/wheels etc..) subject to individual quotes

ps....................how do you get the "tag line" at the end of the posts that a lot of the members use ? I filled in the tag thing but I don't see anything on my messages

Cheers for that ill ask when I service mine next.

However, quick look at Bluefin and it appears that I would only get an increase of 20 bhp for £500. Think i'll pass if that's the case.

The VW rechip was originally only offered on the Golf GTI, and same engined Scirocco models, so i'd check your dealer isn't telling porkies. The VW offered one is actually Superchips, but warranted on a separate third party warranty, and not the normal factory/dealer warranty.

Was at the dealers today on another matter & while talking to the "workshop supervisor" he confirmed that they do remaps & tuning including exhaust & suspension mods.
It seems that not all dealers offer this though.

Guide price given to me for remap, lowering & exhaust was "around £1500"

Tempting.................:approve:

Where did you manage to get 19% discount?

Also just spoke to Superchips and the Bluefin now gives +33 BHP.

Have a look here before you part with any cash :

My 122 bhp keeps a smile on my face so I won't be uprating but I did use a tuning box on my last diesel car to remove an annoying flat spot pre-turbo rpm. I really missed the extra power when I removed the box but thankfully my Tsi doesn't need such a hike.

Horses for courses eh ;):D

I'm with Gerry - I'm absolutely delighted with the performance of my 1.4TSI 122PS, and although it could be re-mapped to 157bhp/272NM according to NV motorsport which takes it up to GT 160PS specs, I'm pretty happy as-is.

142 to 179....mmmm that's tempting.

I could be quite tempted by the 122 → 157 bhp, but in all honesty I'm quite happy with the way she performs as-is. I think the increase in torque would be more useful - I can't help wondering how fuel consumption would be affected.

AIUI fuel consumption is at worst the same but sometimes it's improved.

If you drive in exactly the same manner, same speeds etc, I would expect a slight increase in mpg. But you probably wont because the extra power is a lot of fun ;)

ABT are now doing various remaps, and there's are sort of approved by VW

Thank VW Chester for almost matching the Carfile quote. Just shows how much they make from customers who dont bother to haggle !
