Hello all,
I am on holiday in my T4 miles from home but she is experiencing problems. Engine is a 2.0 litre petrol, 1996 year. Local VW garage have had a long look and twiddled things but she isn't happy. If she's not fixed we will have to be towed 500 miles back home tomorrow. We're desperate not to have to do this!!
There is a problem with the Digifant fuel injection / idle system. Engine has been running fine on a run but when idling it sometimes cuts out and is difficult to re-start. It seems to be flooded with fuel as fuel appears to be gettign through (spark plugs are soaked when removed), difficulty re-starting could be due to this. VW say the computer software for diagnostics have been discarded by VW so they are not able to analyse the problem. They state that there is a spark, timing strobe still pulses even when engine stalls, fuel supply is fine, engine temperature sender appears fine (readings ok but this could still be the problem though... they don't have one in stock). I have been advised by another garage to seek out an independent auto-electrician but the ones I have spoken to (in Inverness where we are staying) can't help or are on holiday!
VW garage seem very experienced and are being helpful but they are booked up and can't spend much time on the engine. Anyone experienced similar problems and can offer a possible solution? If so I'd be very grateful for any advice. Or it will be a tow truck in 24 hours' time! I am using an internet cafe so if you can help, please text me on 07919 370057 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 07919 370057 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. BIG thanks in advance if anyone can help!! http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/images/smilies/dontknow.gif Chris
