As the title says i loose power on my engine when i accelerate, the problem is very intermitant and can be reset by turning the engine off then back on. Its around 3000rpm the pull from the turbo disapears and becomes a very slow and sluggish accelerator. This also happened on my previous 1.9 tdi but that had the 110 engine. Its been put on fault diag and nothing comes up. Any ideas.

Many thanks

p.s apologies if this is in the wrong sections, im new to this forum business

hi, i ahve exactly the same problem on my a6 1.9 tdi 110. ive stripped and cleaned turbo as the vanes get clogged, replaced all vacuum pipes, checked n75 valve which is by the fan still dont know whats wrong? and no faults recorded either. i did disconnect the battery the other day and it must of cleared something *** the car went really well for a while and not done it since? worth a try???

and me. I have a Skoda Superb. I have had intermittant power loss now for 2 years. Always dealer serviced from new 100,000 miles.
Main dealer said I needed a new turbo £3000. Local VW workshop says turbo OK but cannot resolve problem.
Just got back from towing caravan Nottinghamshire to Devon. Needed 2nd gear on Mortorway, then had a break and set off again, this time on full power overtaking everything up and down hill, certainly able to do 80 mph. Another stop and power feels like I have the brakes on. I don't lose power whilst travelling, only after switching off even for a few minutes.

need some fault codes, but that sounds like vanes sticking in the turbo..

find somebody who can help to plug the laptop in and to read the values while the car is driving.

first you have to find out while the car is running in limp mode.

From there you can work on the solution. Guessing is not an option.

^^agree with that.

find a good indipendant VAG specialist in your area, you'll never look back. Dealers always want to throw parts at cars, especially turbos as they can charge horrendous prices or them.
In reality turbos very rarely fail as long as your oil is changed regularly.

in reality turbos do fail, but there are test plans for fault finding, not all dealers throw parts at cars, most of them are good but there is a few that spoil it for the rest any machine you use for code reading or actual data is only as good as the user, and i also know of some indy's that will do the guessing game so dont throw all the crap at dealers.................

sorry, my friends and i and many many other people have had enough experiences of dodgy dealers to make a decision on this..im afraid you aint gonna change my view entirely
