Car alarm problem

Hello. Me again. My car alarm randomly sounds when I lock my car. It can take 10 mins or 2 hours before it sounds. The siren sounds but no lights flash. The key fob has never worked so I have to unlock the car and turn the ignition to shop the alarm. I've tried pressing the button just inside the drivers door before I lock it but it does not seem to do anything. Any suggestions would help. It's an Audi 1.8 se v reg. Thanks.

Got exactly the same problem, right pain in the ars.

I just dont lock my car now.

Same here! I was wondering if the siren could be disconnected? Or could it still drain the battery?

mine was the same..........siren was disconnected....not had any problems since

just disconected it in the boot, from the actual siren

I looked into doing that, bought the torx screwdrivers, but couldnt suss it out. Was tight to get in there.

Any chance of some instructions / pictures?

If the siren is disconnected does it stop the indicators from flashing?

With my car alarm problem the lights never flashed. It was only the siren that goes off. Any tips on disconnecting the siren? Is it just one cable or more?

good idea!! but what happens if someone breaks into your car and you cant hear the alarm going off...

Also, would this not impact your insurance policy?????

Ild get it fixed to be safe...

Thanks burkey1 for your advice. At least with disconnecting the siren you can lock your car and not worry about annoying the neighbours at 2 am! From what I've gathered it's something to do with the central locking? This could be very expensive. An electrician did look at my car but could not pin point the problem.

Don't know if you have had any luck, but mine was doing the exact same, took it to Audi, said it was the Alarm horn, cost £75 to get sorted. Best £75 spent, nice and quiet now!

Thanks crazy739 for your reply. Never considered taking it to Audi! It frightens me to take it to a main dealer! £75 is not bad to get this damn problem sorted! Thanks again.
