Hello, I know we dont need to be told how good our cars are, but i have just returned from a 1750 mile trip to lake maggorrie[ great place]. We travelled over the Simplon pass 2000 meters and came bake through the mont blanc tunnel. Needless to say the car didn't miss a beat an averaged 47 mpg in a 143 multi. Just got to wash off the bugs now.

I went over the simplon pass around 10 years ago in a 1.4 Escort with three mates. When we got to the bottom the brakes had faded so badly that they wouldn't stop the car rolling down the faintest gradient even with the brake pedal flat to the floor... it was comedy.

I imagine it would be more fun (if less dangerous) in your A4.
