Seat Ibiza SXE : ive got a major problem don't know what is causing it the car is chugging when ticking over n wants to cut out, it happened all of a sudden it also struggles to get over 20mph and thereon it loses power, ive changed the sparks n also fitted a new rotor arm n dizzy cap n still ave the problem, any ideas what could be causing this. please help!!!!!

You have to start with a fault code read using a diagnostic system. Print out the codes stored and then clear them. Run the car again and see what codes come back and compare this to the first read and then deal with the codes from the second read. It could be something as simple as the coolant temperature sender but this does not always come up on a code read so its output must be checked in what is known as Measuring Blocks.

thanks Crasher ive spoken to the garage across the street n he seems to think it could be electrical problem he says he spoke to a guy who he knew does diagnostics but he couldnt help as he neva had the equiptment to plug into my car cos of the age its just frustrating

Well it is a pretty safe bet to say it is probably electrical, if someone put a gun to my head and said guess mechanical or electrical, I would go with electrical. There is more than one garage around, look in your yellow pages for a VW specialist and take it there.

ive had it looked ova n the problem seems to be with the injectors 1 n 2 is at fault cheerz

i used to take my dubz to oldskoolperformance a vw specialist but they ave shut up shop cant seem 2 get in contact with dem anymore good lads shame looks as though am gonna ave to tek it 2 volkswerks

What were the fault codes retrieved? Where in the UK are you?

Hey sorry Neva got bak sooner been away in Nottingham left the car with the garage ova da road am in Middlesbrough btw but b4 I left I replaced the injecters not the problem anyways left the car with them while away n when got back they still ain't looked at it finding it he'd to find a decent mechanic who knows there stuff like I said b4 oldskoolperformance sorted tings for me b4 but they are gone now n I ave no way ov contacting them once I finaly get it sorted n find out wat the actual fault was I will let u know thanks Crasher
