Car 2002 TDI . Intermittent starting problem - my mech. diagnosed solenoid cut off behind the pump. Replaced , then started but then stopped. Pump has been off and retimed by specialsts in Sheffield. Car won't start - my mech says it has imobolised itself ?? Any suggestions would be welcome . Thanks Malc  Bring back points and condensers - my era.

Update :
Seen my machanic this morning , car has been to SEAT maindealer for second opinion , they reckon still issues with pump but more seriously high resistance in a wire somewhere - could be computer - £4000 to replace plus labour.

13/08/10 Further Update: The pump problem has now been properly dealt with by John Hoggs in Sheffield although the TCS warning light appeared after a few minutes but this was down to the manual timing of the pump ( retard /advance ) which my mechanic sorted. Just need to replace the turbo when funds allow has mine goes into limp mode occasionally. don't suppose anyone has one for engine code ASV.
