Retrofit memory seats

Can anyone verify that the motors on the electric seats do not need to changed when retrofit memory function?according to the elsa diagram there are sender position sensors on the motors and on the picture it apears to be an extra plug under the power plug to the motor.

I have manual seats, but chickened out of buying a set of leather seats because they were electric. I too would be interested to know if memory seats will work on their own without CANBUS. It would be great if you could just stick 12v up them somewhere and they worked electrically yet manual IYSWIM :)
