Hi guys,
Im new here and have tried searching through the archives for information on timing belts and when to change them, however I am just puzzled that in my service book which has vw stamps at every service, there is no record of the timing/tooth belt being changed. The car has done 78k and I have had it a month.
I realise this is probably the most important part that needs to be well maintained and am getting a friend of mine who is a mechanic to change it for me. He owns a passat himself so I feel a little relaxed about not giving it to a vw dealership/specialist.
I also tried to ring every garage that the car was serviced at to make sure the stamps were not fake and to identify if they had inspected the timing belt. Can't say I was successful in the latter part but I guess if it hasn't been done at all then i'm really treading on ice right now.
Had to wait a month as paying for the car and insurance really made me broke.
The last service was done in february this year so I am just shocked that the timing belt has not been changed.
The Bora is a 51 plate tdi 130 auto and drives really nice. On a full tank probably around 400 miles in town. Is that normal?
Any advice or comments on other things that need attention welcome.
