I have traced my aircon fault down to a knackered compressor. anyone know the best place to get a replacement? i'v looked on ebay and there is a couple that will do the job but dont really trust buying second hand parts from ebay.

The compressor i need is a Denso 7SBU16C, These were fitted to loads of different cars including an E46 BMW with 6 cylinder engines.

I was thinking of just buying one from any car and swapping the pulley for my one, doesnt look like it will come off that easy though.

Anyone else done this?

My car is a 1.9TDI 130 sport estate

Well, i got my recon compressor from ACR LTD in chertsy for the bargin price of £200 delivered, got a new drier from euro car parts for £30, fitted it all my self then got it vacced and gassed up by a very sympathetic uncle who just happens to be a refrigeration engineer £free.

after all the faffing about with the drier, the compressor was fairly easy and enjoyableto fit, when we gassed it up the vent temperature went from 28 degrees to 13.5 in 4 minutes, oh and my glove box cools down a can of coke a treat now :)

I now have ice cold aircon and i'm now a very happy passat owner.

Cheers for all the reply's to this and my other thread on aircon.
