New Vacuum / fuel pump and Top Engine stripping.

Hi

I have now had my car checked buy a few peeps!

I have recently had all the suspension done on my car, and the brake servo changed due to the Hard pedal symptom. It turns out the pedal still goes so now I'm told it may be the Vacuum / fuel pump.

I got someone else to look at it yesterday and they told me I need to get the top half of the engine rebuilt and get a new vacuum pump fitted. He got a screw driver and push down on the injectors I think, and said its hydraulic if that’s any good.

I'm not exactly sure why the top half of the engine needs stripping and rebuilding but could anyone give me a better idea, or know a good VW mechanic in Coventry that will help me out.

I have now been told its the camshaft knocking? does anyone know how much I am looking at and what else I should consider getting done at the same time
